Old Meets New In Barbara Shaw’s Sassy Israeli Designs

Jaffa Orange ApornBarbara Shaw grew up in Australia, in a home where artistic and entrepreneurial achievements were encouraged.  Her passion for design was fostered by her parents, who immigrated from Poland and Hungary.  It is this love for art and culture that Barbara has applied to her Judaica gifts and other exclusive house wares.
In the 80`s Barbara and her family came to live in Jerusalem. Since that time, Jerusalem has been Barbara`s greatest inspiration. The meeting point of the world`s three largest monotheistic religions, the landscapes of the desert and the flowers of the field are her new playground and passion.

Barbara Shaw`s designs fuse the ancient with the most modern. Her colors, patterns and themes are inspired by Jerusalem and her Jewish heritage.  She also weaves the landscapes that surround her into products that will enhance the home and beautify everyday living.

Fig Leaf Aporn I aim to be part of a new confident Israeli style that has been merging of late in all fields of design. Naturally I draw from the ancient sources; however I want to develop designs that are fresh, bold and sassy. I am looking for a new idiom, with up market packaging. I would like my products to have an international look yet with the feel that says this could only have been produced in Israel. I want to produce beautiful, useful everyday objects that are a pleasure to give and a delight and surprise to receive.”

Launched in 2008, Barbara`s “Seven Species” Collection was inspired entirely by the seven fruits and grains that are native to the Land of Israel. The collection includes the pomegranate theme, lush, red and juicy found on a rage of products and the fig leaf theme. Barbara loves the graphic line of the fig leaf, which she wants to highlight.

Pomegrante Gift BasketSince then, Barbara`s product lines have expanded to include a range of Jewish baby gifts, Jewish wedding gifts and other distinctive products, as well as jewelry, all of which are made in Jerusalem.
“All in the Family” is a popular range, with themes for Mom, Dad, Grandfather and Grandma, a popular design is the Cool Polish Mother theme as well.
At Barbara Shaw, the team is committed to excellence on all levels – design, production, fulfillment and customer service. Barbara has a background in Fine Art, Archaeology and Business, which brings flair, design experience and management skills to Barbara Shaw Contemporary Gifts.
