Israeli Designer Yaara Nir Kachlon creates ceramic designs that reflect a simplistic, streamlined aesthetic sensibility and a keen awareness of something completely functional but beautiful at the same time.
Yaara is not your typical Israeli designer. A wife of a farmer and mother of four, Yaara is a resident of the Negev (the area of Southern Israel which is mostly barren desert land.) She takes in her surroundings as an influence to the practical but unquestionably decorative bowls, vases, containers and plates that make up her ceramic collection. The designs are often ornamented with a strip of leather, cloth, fabric or text. The mixture is minimalist but trendsetting, and also on par considering her location and artistic background.
Yaara grew up amongst a family of artists but also took the time to explore her own design inspirations at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem as well as the Parsons School of Design in New York, where she was mentored by renowned ceramics designer Marek Cecula.
The sophisticated worldliness is reflected in designs that border between simple, classic, and light but also stylish, decorated and aesthetically please to the eye. She knows how to create a peaceful harmony with her clay.
