Studio Luka’s founder and chief designer, Tamar Sela, reveals to us what makes her wall decals so beautiful and functional, where she finds her inspiration, what is her best seller model and why, how she started, and which wall decal is stuck above her bed…

What are your sources of inspiration for Studio Luka’s wall decal designs? What guides you when you come to create a new design?
The sources of inspiration come from everything I happen to come across on my every day life, nature, items at my home, TV, anything can be inspiring, sometimes even the customers themselves. I’m constantly thinking what could be a great wall sticker, so really everything around me inspires me.

Your best seller is the birds on a wire model. Can you guess what its great attraction?
I think this model is suitable for any space and style, it is minimal but has a great touch, it’s just simple and beautiful.

Studio Luka’s wall decals can be divided into different designs collection, such as nature, kids etc. What are your sources of inspiration for each collection?
If I see a beautiful tree or flower I will think of our collection nature, if I read a children’s book I would look for something to fit the kids’ collection. Because I come from a background of interior design, the thought of the collections comes from thinking about great design solutions for different spaces.

Do Studio Luka’s wall decals correspond with the fashionable trends of interior design in general?
I’ve been in the design world for over 10 years and most of the time I lived in New York, so yes, as a designer I am influenced by world interior design trends. But when I’m working on a new collection I don’t think about what’s trendy now, but what I think is missing in our variety in terms of age range, spaces that we haven’t dealt with yet etc.

Which wall decals are on your home walls?
We have a typography wall sticker in the living room, The kids wall decal wish tree at the playroom, At my daughter’s room is the kids wall decal fairies in silver, and in our bedroom wall is the large flowers sticker.

What was the first wall decal you designed for Studio Luka?
It was the kids wall decal my little garden, and it is still one of the most successful wall sticker for children’s rooms.
