Designer Osi Gilboa’s love for fashion can be traced back to the roots of her family tree. Born in Israel to a father who worked in the clothing industry and a mother who worked as a seamstress, Gilboa was given a first-hand glimpse into the colorful world of design as a little girl.
Gilboa grew up interested in other cultures and always had a creative mind due to her upbringing. After serving in the Israeli Defense Force as a young adult, Gilboa went on to study Middle East and African History at Tel Aviv University.
She grew interested in developing a career in foreign affairs and seemed to have her future set before her when an unfortunate turn of events changed her path. In early 2004, Gilboa had her car stolen from her, which derailed her plans to further her career.
However, instead of postponing her career, she decided to use the insurance compensation to go back to her roots and start a business designing women’s clothing. Despite having little formal training, Gilboa pulled together a complete and high-quality women’s collection that launched in 2004. Her line of clothing became an immediate hit in Israel and flew off the shelves of high-end boutiques across the country. [click to continue…]
